The Virgen Del Pino of Gran Canarias, is one of the Marian representations of the Virgin Mary. In 1481 the image of the Virgin Mary appeared on top of a pine tree located in the vicinity of the municipality of Teror, where years later the basilica that houses it would be erected. The Pine where it appeared was an indigenous species in the Canary Islands, scientifically named Pinus Canariensis.
